Staff Picks 6/14/17

Black Cloud #3: Accounts are balanced and old grudges are settled. Revenge is the order of the day.

Nightwing TP Vol 2: Nightwing takes off for the city of Blüdhaven, hoping to find a fresh start. Instead, he finds foes who've waited years for payback against the one-time Boy Wonder as a serial killer stalks the streets, framing him for crimes he didn't commit. Collects NIGHTWING #9-15!

Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1: Martian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian's determination for world domination. J'onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus.

Catalyst Prime: Accell #1: This new Speedster is quickly learning the perils of his heroics and the secret group seeking out those like him; people who were effected by a mysterious meteor shower.

Dragon Age Knight Errant #2: This comic's first issue has me intrigued to see where this expansion of the video games takes our elven thief on her adventure through Kirkwall.

Bitch Planet - Triple Feature #1: This new anthology series set in the world of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Vincent de Landro's Bitch Planet brings us three stories of Non Compliance. Also, watch for the special Pride Month Variant for this issue.

Other awesome stuff this week: All New Wolverine #21, Black Panther: World of Wakanda TP, Dark Days: The Forge, Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1, Mother Panic Vol 1 TP, Ms Marvel #19, and Woman Wonder #24.

All New Wolverine #21: WOLVERINE RACES FOR A CURE! The strange alien disease is spreading quickly and scientists are no closer to a cure than they were when the spaceship crash-landed... With a population rapidly falling to the illness, Laura will have to turn to former allies and new friends to save the day...

Flash #24: RUNNING SCARED” prelude—guest-starring Hal Jordan! Green Lantern Hal Jordan has recruited Barry Allen for a dangerous mission that only The Flash can accomplish! Unfortunately, that mission is on a hostile space station deep in the cosmos, which means leaving Kid Flash alone to defend his and Barry’s loved ones from a deadly attack by their greatest enemy…

Grass Kings #4: Humbert and his police force face off against Robert’s militia in the Grass Kingdom.

DRAGON AGE KNIGHT ERRANT #2 - Lying to the Inquisition COULD be punishable by death, depending on your Inquisitor. Vaea is going to have to do some fast talking to hide her thievery, and as a person who is generally tired of the elf-driven narrative in Dragon Age, I rather like her and her story so far. Ser Aaron hasn't quite wormed his way into my heart yet, but its still early!

STAR WARS #32 - Screaming Citadel continues! Now Han Solo and Sana are mixed up in all of this strange Force Vampire nonsense, not to mention the fact that Sana can't stand the thought of being within eyesight of Aphra. This event continues to be a great, fun time.

KILL THE MINOTAUR #1 - Do you like greek mythology? I do! Nothing compels me more than a good minotaur tale. In Kill the Minotaur, Athens has lost the war to Crete, and they must now pay tribute each year by sending one of their own into the Labyrinth. How will the fearsome minotaur receive them?

Bitch Planet Triple Feature #1: Set in the Bitch Planet world but separate from the main story line, the first triple feature is three separate stories created by different teams. These stories showcase the struggles faced by women in the Bitch Planet world (but never in our world . . . right?) with dark irony and extremely cutting satire.

Misfit City #2: I actually haven't previously heard of this series, but upon reading up on it I've become quite intrigued! It's an adventure story that follows a group of teen girls who find a map which will supposedly lead them to pirate treasure. This is only the 2nd issue of this new series, so you won't have too much to catch up on if you decide to join the fun. Adventure stories about teenage girls isn't something we get to see too often (unfortunately), so I'm excited that this exists and look forward to learning more about it!
