Staff Picks 12/14/16

Namesake #2: Jordan has finally crossed into Ektae, where he is immediately arrested and forced to lie his way out of one bad situation and into another.

Red Thorn #13: Cadros and Thorn face each other for the last time, as Isla's new powers grow explosively and Tarek is forced to make the most important decision of his life. Join us as our story of Pagan Gods, Demigods and Red Caps comes to a close. Who lives, who dies and...will our world survive?

Poe Dameron #9:  Poe Dameron is on a secret mission from General Organa herself... to escort none other than C-3PO on a dangerous mission to the planet Kaddak!

Descender #17: "ORBITAL MECHANICS" starts here, launching the bestselling series-with Eisner Award-winning art-into high gear. All the various factions hunting Tim-21 begin to converge, and explosive revelations are made as Tim, Telsa, and Quon escape the Machine Moon, but they may have doomed themselves and the Universe in doing so!

Hawkeye #1: FINALLY! Kate Bishop has her own book. She's back on the West Coast (aka the BEST coast) and running her own Hero for Hire operation... Or she's trying to...

Namesake #2: This book was the best #1 I read in November. It has me hooked. Now that Jordan has crossed into Ektae, how will he find his way in this strange otherworld? With lots of violence? Safe bet.

Red Thorn #13: Everything comes down to this issue. I can't even fathom what will happen? But Isla is out for revenge on Thorn, so that'll probably end well... oh yeah, has anything ended well for anybody in this book?

Descender vol 3 Singularities: This book has been breaking my heart every single trade. Can't wait to break it a little more.
BONUS: The fourth arc also starts in the monthly issues today with Descender #17!

Poe Dameron #9: Poe has received his next mission, and it involves everyone's favorite gold protocol droid.

Wonder Woman #12: We near the end of 'Year One', and how will this past be affected by the revelations of 'The Lies'? I have no idea, but Greg Rucka knows and that's all I need.

Other awesome under the fold: Assassin's Creed Heresy, DC Rebirth Holiday Special #1, Descender #17, Detective Comics #946, Ms Marvel vol 6, Power Man and Iron Fist #11, Princess Bride: A Storybook to Color, Red Sonja #0, Spider-Man #10, Steven Universe 2016 Special #1, and Supergirl #4.

Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #2: At the end of the last issue, Peter and MJ realized that their live were about more than just themselves as individuals or even as a couple. Unfortunately right on the heels of that epiphany came the realization that their daughter had been kidnapped by Mole Man and his Moloids!

Clean Room #14: Astrid Mueller has the worst family ever! I mean her dad ran her over as a child, her brother shot her and now her niece is some kind of alien abomination! I thought holiday gatherings were stressful at my house! I am really interested in where this story is going and I trust in Gail to make me laugh and the scare the jeepers out of me!

Flash #12: I am loving this book SO MUCH! I really enjoy Barry Allen as a teacher and the new Kid Flash is really fun and relatable. Barry and Wally race against time to save Iris and return control of the Shadowlands to Shade. This book just keeps getting better. DC is making huge strides in restoring my faith in them.

Fuse #24: Ralph's secret agenda has been revealed. Klem is days away from retirement. The FLF still has a plan to attack the mayor. Time is running out and I'm not sure that there will be a happy ending to this story arc.

Red Sonja #0: Red Sonja is back! The She Devil with a Sword has a couple of amazing runs penned by Simone and then Bennett. Now Amy Chu takes over writing the most hardcore heroine of Hyborian age! If that isn't enough to get you on board then the introductory price of 25 cents ought to get your attention!

Red Thorn #13: All good thing must come to end. The final issue is here and I am both excited and a little sad for this issue. This book has had me eager for more since the first issue and I have no doubt that the last will live up to its own high standards. Besides, we still get to see Hetrick's fabulous art in another wonderful little book called Faith! Enjoy! I know I will!

Santa's Bag of Goodies: Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #5, DC Rebirth Holiday Special, Descender #17, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #10, Hawkeye #1 NOW, Old Man Logan #15, Bloody Red Sonja POP!, Power Rangers Pink #5, Silk #15, Spider-Man #10, Star Wars: Poe Dameron #9, Supergirl #4, Toon Tumblers Spider Gwen clear pint glass, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #15 and Wonder Woman #12

DC Rebirth Holiday Special #1: 'Tis the season from DC comics! Some of my favorite reads are always from the various Holiday specials! It's a nice comfort added to the season.

Gwenpool Holiday Special - Merry Mix Up: I have read very little about Gwenpool, but I am a sucker for holiday comics.
