Black Cloud #3: Accounts are balanced and old grudges are settled. Revenge is the order of the day.

Nightwing TP Vol 2: Nightwing takes off for the city of Blüdhaven, hoping to find a fresh start. Instead, he finds foes who've waited years for payback against the one-time Boy Wonder as a serial killer stalks the streets, framing him for crimes he didn't commit. Collects NIGHTWING #9-15!

Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1: Martian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian's determination for world domination. J'onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus.

Catalyst Prime: Accell #1: This new Speedster is quickly learning the perils of his heroics and the secret group seeking out those like him; people who were effected by a mysterious meteor shower.

Dragon Age Knight Errant #2: This comic's first issue has me intrigued to see where this expansion of the video games takes our elven thief on her adventure through Kirkwall.

Bitch Planet - Triple Feature #1: This new anthology series set in the world of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Vincent de Landro's Bitch Planet brings us three stories of Non Compliance. Also, watch for the special Pride Month Variant for this issue.

Other awesome stuff this week: All New Wolverine #21, Black Panther: World of Wakanda TP, Dark Days: The Forge, Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1, Mother Panic Vol 1 TP, Ms Marvel #19, and Woman Wonder #24.

All New Wolverine #21: WOLVERINE RACES FOR A CURE! The strange alien disease is spreading quickly and scientists are no closer to a cure than they were when the spaceship crash-landed... With a population rapidly falling to the illness, Laura will have to turn to former allies and new friends to save the day...

Flash #24: RUNNING SCARED” prelude—guest-starring Hal Jordan! Green Lantern Hal Jordan has recruited Barry Allen for a dangerous mission that only The Flash can accomplish! Unfortunately, that mission is on a hostile space station deep in the cosmos, which means leaving Kid Flash alone to defend his and Barry’s loved ones from a deadly attack by their greatest enemy…

Grass Kings #4: Humbert and his police force face off against Robert’s militia in the Grass Kingdom.

DRAGON AGE KNIGHT ERRANT #2 - Lying to the Inquisition COULD be punishable by death, depending on your Inquisitor. Vaea is going to have to do some fast talking to hide her thievery, and as a person who is generally tired of the elf-driven narrative in Dragon Age, I rather like her and her story so far. Ser Aaron hasn't quite wormed his way into my heart yet, but its still early!

STAR WARS #32 - Screaming Citadel continues! Now Han Solo and Sana are mixed up in all of this strange Force Vampire nonsense, not to mention the fact that Sana can't stand the thought of being within eyesight of Aphra. This event continues to be a great, fun time.

KILL THE MINOTAUR #1 - Do you like greek mythology? I do! Nothing compels me more than a good minotaur tale. In Kill the Minotaur, Athens has lost the war to Crete, and they must now pay tribute each year by sending one of their own into the Labyrinth. How will the fearsome minotaur receive them?

Bitch Planet Triple Feature #1: Set in the Bitch Planet world but separate from the main story line, the first triple feature is three separate stories created by different teams. These stories showcase the struggles faced by women in the Bitch Planet world (but never in our world . . . right?) with dark irony and extremely cutting satire.

Misfit City #2: I actually haven't previously heard of this series, but upon reading up on it I've become quite intrigued! It's an adventure story that follows a group of teen girls who find a map which will supposedly lead them to pirate treasure. This is only the 2nd issue of this new series, so you won't have too much to catch up on if you decide to join the fun. Adventure stories about teenage girls isn't something we get to see too often (unfortunately), so I'm excited that this exists and look forward to learning more about it!

Staff Picks 6/7/17

Injection #13: What is the Cold House?

Eternal Empire #2: The Eternal Empress has waged war against the countries of Saia for over 100 years, and now her sights are set on the last country standing. Within the brutal Empire's workforce, a young man receives strange visions that give him the courage to escape his fate...or run straight toward it.

Nightwing #22: "BLOCKBUSTER" part three! Blockbuster's return to Blüdhaven has rocked the foundation of the criminal organizations and Nightwing stands in the middle of the chaos. Nightwing has to stop Blockbuster from achieving his goal, but does Blüdhaven's newest villain have a plan to remove him from the equation?

Aquaman #24: "CROWN OF ATLANTIS" finale! Hopelessly at odds with the people of Atlantis, Arthur is finally stripped of his crown. In his place, and to Aquaman's horror, the previously imprisoned Atlantean fundamentalist Corum Rath is installed as the new king! Every step of AQUAMAN REBIRTH has been building to this!

Rom #11: "Long Roads to Ruin," part 1. Rom's war against the Wraiths takes a dark turn as he's forced to fight alone against both the returning, far more dangerous, Axiom, and a dual threat from the ocean depths... Scylla and Charybdis!

Amazing Spider-man #28: OSBORN VS. SPIDER-MAN! NO HOLDS BARRED! The outcome of this battle will change both of these men. And that's nothing to say of Osborn's master plan that Spider-Man is powerless to save! ONLY SILVER SABLE AND MOCKINGBIRD STAND A CHANCE!

Darth Vader #1: "Year One" begins. When Anakin Skywalker fell, both to the pull of the dark side and to the blade of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he rose back up, more machine than man. Having lost everything that was once dear to him, the former chosen one must take his first steps into a darker Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith!

Eternal Empire #2: The Eternal Empress has waged war against the countries of Saia for over 100 years, and now her sights are set on the last country standing. Within the brutal Empire's workforce, a young man receives strange visions that give him the courage to escape his fate...or run straight toward it.

Hawkeye #7: This series is currently one of my favorite superhero titles. Kate's snark is hilarious and awesome. I'm really excited to see where Kelly Thompson takes her this issue, since more of Kate's past is supposed to be revealed.

Runaways Tp 4 - True Believers: This is one of my favorite titles of all time. I'm glad that Marvel is creating another series and is reprinting more of the older trades. True Believers was a great story arc for the characters and is a great place to start for readers new to the Runaways.

Bitch Planet TP 2 - President Bitch: At long last, the second volume of Kelly Sue Deconnick's acclaimed series hits shelves! I can't wait to final read this arc in one sitting!

Hawkeye TP Vol 1 - Kate Bishop: Kate's taken charge as the Hawkeye for the best coast! She starts her own private eye biz and her first case: missing persons! Simple enough until her client vanishes too!

Wonder Woman Annual #1: Artist Nicola Scott returns to Wonder Woman to tell us about Diana's first adventure alongside Superman and Batman! Also: more stories from her journey as a hero!

Young Avengers - Children's Crusade TP: Wiccan's powers edge toward chaos and the Young Avengers must find out more about his origins. Enter: the Scarlett Witch, back from the dead?

More awesome stuff this week: Gamora #5, Motor Girl #6, Romulus #4, Sex Criminals #19, Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills, and Steven Universe #4.

Flash #23: "Running Scared,” prelude! Barry Allen is at a crossroads. He’s lied to the woman he loves about his life as The Flash, and a rift is growing between him and his heroic young partner. Now, his greatest enemy has threatened to strike down everyone close to him! It’s time to make a tough choice that will launch The Flash into his most incredible mission yet: a siege on the 25th century stronghold of Eobard Thawne!

Kill or be Killed #9: Time is running out, and the demon wont wait for the police to stop hunting him. Trapped between his curse and his own survival, Dylan takes to the streets.

Spider Gwen #20: WHO IS THE EARTH 65 WOLVERINE???

STAR WARS ROGUE ONE YOUNG READERS NOVEL - GUARDIANS OF WHILLS: Rucka. Star Wars. What more needs to be said? Guardians of the Whills explores the otherwise largely unexplored storylines of Chirrut and Baze from Rogue One. In spite of the fact that its a novel aimed at younger readers (much like the Before the Awakening novels), it has a good chunk of lore that you won't want to miss.

STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #7: More Screaming Citadel content! I have to say, I'm really loving the Luke and Aphra banter, and it looks like Han Solo is about to join the party. I'm eating this event up!

PAKLIS #1: PAKLIS is a three-story anthology series with influence range from Kafka to Miyazaki. Its purpose is to delve into dark storylines that ask existential questions of the reader. This one has potential to be "don't read alone at night in a dark room" sort of book.

MY LESBIAN EXPERIENCE WITH LONELINESS: This book promises to be filled with some Real Talk™ alongside a bit of too-true humor about a girl growing up in a close-minded environment while struggling to find out who she is. Its something I can find myself relating to, and its also partly written as an autobiography!

BITCH PLANET TP VOL 02 - PRESIDENT BITCH: Kelly Sue Deconnick's series is, in short, amazing. With the second story arc finally collected in the second volume, I am incredibly excited to have one of the greatest modern feminist comics on my shelf. This is one of the few series where I collect it in both singles and trades. Overall, I'm pumped for volume two.

HAWKEYE TP VOL 01 - KATE BISHOP: Kate Bishop is one of my favorite characters in comics overall. To finally have her in her own book is incredible, as she can move forward in a story where she isn't a side character or on a team. With one of Marvel's best new private eyes, this series is filled with classic Kate Bishop snark, relatable humor, and an overall great time. Written by Kelly Thompson, this one of my favorite books put out by Marvel.

MY LESBIAN EXPERIENCE WITH LONELINESS: This autobiographical manga has recently been hailed by critics and fans alike as a great story about what it is like to be a gay woman. As a queer young woman, I'm always looking for stories about LGBTQ folks who love outside the U.S., so a story about a lesbian in Japan is exactly what I have been looking for. I can't wait to read it!

WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1: The Wonder Woman annual contains four original stories created by amazing teams. As an avid Diana fan, I'm incredibly excited to read these team's take on the iconic character right before I see the movie on Friday.

Staff Picks 5/24/17

Wonder Woman #23:  I'm super sad that Greg Rucka will be leaving this title after #25, but the ride in the meantime is the best in comics! Diana face THE TRUTH of Aries and we reach the end of this arc.

Mass Effect Discovery #1: Tiran Kandros goes undercover to discover the truth of the Andromeda Initiative and their true goals.

The Old Guard #4: I'm so sad this arc is almost over and that I'll have to wait until NEXT YEAR for more. This comic covers the rift of new and old beautifully! I can't wait to get it in trade as well!

Batgirl #11:  "Son of Penguin", finale. Batgirl races to free Burnside from Ethan's plot... but has Burnside already changed too much to be saved? Even if she manages to save the day, will Barbara ever be able to truly go home again?

Mass Effect: Discovery #1: If you can't get enough Mass Effect Andromeda then you can't miss this book! This book gives us some insight into Kandros (everyone's favorite space dad) and why he is a pivotal figure in the Andromeda franchise.

Black Hammer #9: In this issue we get Talky Walky's back story. We also get to explore his relationship with Col. Weird in the past as well as after the events of the last issue. Lenore has created a world of characters that the reader can identify and empathize with.

SAMARITAN VERITAS #1 - A woman with a vendetta decides she's going to take down the largest military contractor in the world. How does one accomplish such a feat? Giving away useful information that can hurt them. And how do you get that info? Hacking (probably).

MASS EFFECT DISCOVERY #1 - A Turian focused story arc in the new galaxy of Andromeda. For all the efforts sentient life made to leave their old lives behind, corruption runs rampant in the Andromeda Initiative.

OLD GUARD #4 - A lot of shooting, some explosions, and a heartfelt declaration of love. As it turns out, the coined term 'Immortals' might not fit the mold as well as you think. If you're a fan of mixing past history into modern day storylines, this issue won't disappoint.

Star Lord Annual #1: I'm super excited for the Star Lord Annual, as it seems to be in the style of the classic Western films of the 1950s and 1960s. With Peter crashing in a small town and fighting off their mean, old varmit, it sounds just like a Lone Ranger episode, but in space!

Night Owl Society #2: When I first picked up this book I was fairly skeptical, but the miniseries reminds me of 4 Kids Walk into A Bank, which is a fantastic book. With the same grittiness of 4 Kids Walk into A Bank and awesome character dynamics, this is a book that I'm excited to see its resolution in issue three.

Staff Picks 5/17/17

What are you excited to read this new comic book day?

American Gods #3: Shadow now works for Mr. Wednesday, but what all does that entail?

Nick Fury #2: The first issue (with such amazing art by ACO) was like a really great opening sequence to a Bond film. I can't wait to read more!

Supergirl TP 1: I love this book! Steve Orlando does a fantastic job writing a story that presents Kara's comic origins for new fans and quickly moves into a new story for all fans to enjoy!

Wild Storm #4: This series has been so fantastic. Warren Ellis back playing in the Wildstorm sandbox has been a joy!

Kim Reaper #2: Oni Press' new book is an amazing addition to its line of LGBTQ+ content. In this next issue, Kim and Becka have to deal with an uncooperative customer, trying to guide his cat into the afterlife. Filled with relatable girl crush scenarios, adorable art, and Lumberjanes like humor, this is definitely one of the books I'll be sticking with.

Generation X #1: Of all the new X-Men titles, this is the one I am most interested in. Generation X appears to return its focus on the students in the X-Men titles, with Jubilee leading her own team. Seeing Jubilee in a leadership role will be especially interesting, as we've often seen her as just another member on one of the various X-Men teams. Also, I am up for any X-Men book with Quentin Quire.

Poe Dameron #14: It is a sad day for the Resistance as they mourn the loss of a fallen comrade. But their fight is far from over - the First Order must be stopped! And Captain Phasma knows just how to get Terex to toe the line.

Eternal Empire #1: From shop favorite creators of Alex+Ada, Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn. The Eternal Empress has waged war against the countries of Saia for over one hundred years and now her sights are set on the last country standing. Within the brutal Empire's workforce, a young woman receives strange visions that give her the courage to escape her fate...or run straight toward it.

Nightwing #16: "NIGHTWING MUST DIE" finale! Very few villains have ever broken Batman-but the man who's been tormenting Nightwing is one of them! Why has he chosen Nightwing, and not Batman, to serve him in the dark new world he sees coming?

Motor Girl vol 1: This veteran spends her days running a junk yard and talking to her best friend, an imaginary gorilla. But when a company goes after her property, will she be able to keep her way of life?

I really enjoyed this book. It's fun and a little zany, with its heart in the right place. I delight reading it every month.

Catalyst Prime - Noble #1: This is the launch of Lionforge's new superhero universe. "One year after "The Event", missing astronaut David Powell has resurfaced! With dangerous new abilities and no memory of the man he once was. While desperately trying to regain his identity David quickly finds himself a man on the run from shadowy forces as well as his forgotten past." Don't miss out on this new series, or its Free Comic Book Day counterpart.

Ab Irato #1: In a dystopian future of rising sea levels, the rich have access to a rejuvenating vaccine that can allow lifespans of hundreds of years. A young man named Riel arrives in the urban metropolis of Montreal and meets a young woman, Neve, who is allied with rebel insurgents (the "Bastards of God") fighting the corporate powers that control the city and the vaccine.

Other awesome this week: Eternal Empire #1 (from the creators of Alex+Ada), Poe Dameron #14, and Superwoman Vol 1.

Aquaman #22: "H2.0" finale! Dead Water has taken possession of one of Aquaman's key allies and he must race to find a cure for Agent Ajar's condition, as she wreaks havoc in the base. Even if he succeeds, Dead Water's next target may be the Atlantean king himself!

Faith #11: Faith no more! One by one, Faith has outsmarted and defeated every member of her brand-new rogues gallery. But when all four of Los Angeles' most sinister minds attack their sworn enemy at once, their combined power may prove to be too powerful to handle! But will evil finally triumph over the high-flying psiot...or collapse under its own collective weight? The most pivotal moment in Faith's solo career starts here with a rumble that won't just seal the fate of Los Angeles, but the entire nation!

Spider-Gwen 19: A NEW STORY ARC BEGINS! Matt Murdock, crime kingpin of NY and leader of The Hand, sends Spider-Gwen on a mission that hits WAY too close to home. This mission will introduce one of the biggest new characters in the Gweniverse and set Gwen on the path to her scariest villain yet!

More Books to Love: Batman #22, Goldie Vance #12, Green Arrow #22, Green Lanterns #22, Hawkeye #6, Nightwing #20, Spider-Man #16, Spider-Man 2099 #23 and  Star Wars Poe Dameron #14

STAINED #1 - Bounty hunters! Cybernetics! Diamond smuggling! A futuristic smuggler epic , Stained has a lead hardcore female protagonist named Emma, who trips on something much larger than she is able to handle during a routine bounty hunting operation. The cover art for this is beautiful and interesting, and the premise holds the promise of a new sci-fi underworld to sink your teeth into.

ETERNAL EMPIRE #1 - From the creators of Alex+Ada comes a fantasy epic. The end of a hundred year war is coming, and one woman is given a vision that leaves her at a crossroads. Not a lot has come out about the story itself, but given the success of Alex+Ada, this is definitely a title to consider.

Wonder Woman TP 2 - Year One: The team of writer Greg Rucka and artist Nicola Scott weave the definitive and shocking tale of Diana's first year as Earth's protector. Paradise has been breached, Ares stirs and the Amazons must answer with a champion of their who is willing to sacrifice her home among her sisters to save a world she has never seen. Wonder Woman's journey begins in this epic origin story!

This is a great jumping in point for any new fans who are excited for the Wonder Woman movie out this June!

She lives at a Florida resort with her dad who manages the place, and it's her dream to one day become the hotel's in-house detective. The Wicked + The Divine #28: We reach the final issue of the arc. I'm bracing myself for whatever cliff hanger revelation I am about to be inflicted with.

Godshaper #1: I love the concept of 1 God to 1 Person. And the artwork is just gorgeous, really excited to read this one!

American Gods #2: What exactly does Mr. Wednesday want with Shadow? I'm really enjoying this adaptation and it just has me even more excited for the show premier at the end of this month!

Amazing Spider-Man #26: The biggest hanging thread from Superior Spider-Man is fanally being pulled in this arc. For a little extra frosting in this issue we will also get to see Silver Sable. I don't know about you, but I am champing at the bit for this issue!

Flash #20: Flash and Iris West go undercover in the organization for creating all those speedsters way back in Flash #1! This issue promises intrigue, action and betrayal (maybe).

Grass Kings #2: A town living off the grid and outside of the rule of the government, What could possibly go wrong? How about the return of a child long thought dead? Or maybe the sheriff of the neighboring town who also seems to be looking at the Grass Kingdom. Matt Kindt has another winner on his hands with this book!

Old Man Logan #21: Logan is forced to relive his most painful and defining moments as he tumbles through the past. Will he find a way to escape and return to the wastelands? Will he be able to save the Hulk Baby and the Future?

Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #3: This book just calls to a younger me. I mean who hasn't spent lazy afternoons trying to figure out how some of their favorie properties would react to meeting each other? This is a fun and quirky take on space cops vs talking apes!

Wicked + Divine #28: The great evil that the Pantheon is meant to guard against is back! The end is nigh, folks! or is it?!?!

Honorable Mentions: Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #6, Aquaman TP vol. 2 Black Manta Rising, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey #9, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #18, Jonesy #12, Neil Gaiman American Gods: Shadows #2, Rat Queens #2, ROM #9, Silver Surfer #10, Spider-Man 2099 #22, Supergirl #8, Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #19 and Wonder Woman #20
