Descender #22: As the various factions hunting Tim-21 close in, the galaxy is on the verge of all-out war. This is it! Everything DESCENDER has been building to begins to erupt in the most important and surprising DESCENDER storyline yet!

Nightwing #25: "BLOCKBUSTER" part four! In this special oversize issue, the boardwalk is the heart and soul of Blüdhaven, and Tiger Shark and Blockbuster are willing to kill each other and whoever else stands in their way to rule it. Nightwing has to find a way to stop them both or suffer a Blüdhaven ruled by crime!

Superb #1: This is the next Catalyst Prime launch title. Meet Jonah and his childhood friend, Kayla, who have recently reunited after Kayla had moved away. Recently, a hero of the Superman influence has been seen rescuing people. Kayla begins to suspect the identity of this hero.

Written by David F. Walker, I highly recommend this book to reader of either the Power Man and Iron Fist book or the current Luke Cage title. Walker is a fantastic comic writer, and he surpasses himself in the first issue of this book.

Midnighter and Apollo TP: Finally, this final volume in Steve Orlando's Midnighter story has arrived! If you haven't heard us talk about this book, please come in and get us going!

Backstagers Vol 1: Jory starts at his new school and immediately makes friends with the Backstagers and is quickly introduced to the magic and mystery of the backstage. I'm especially enchanted by this book because one of my other jobs is as a Stage Manager.

Other awesome stuff: Poe Dameron #17, Aquaman #26, Ether TP 1, Moonstruck #1, and Ms Marvel vol 7

Aquaman #26: "UNDERWORLD" part two! Enraged by rumors of Arthur's survival in the slums of Atlantis, the ruthless King Rath orders the use of ancient Atlantean techno-magic to track down the Aquaman at all costs! But the ex-king Arthur can't hide for long when his fate collides with that of a mysterious young woman on the run from Rath's own secret police. Her name: Dolphin.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #17: The next Power Rangers epic starts here! The Power Rangers are finally reunited, but can things ever be the same?

Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man #2: A tech-crime ring is tightening around Spider-Man.  If Ironheart will stop beating him up, she may be able to help him zero in on the source.  And who is the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent showing up at Peter's door with more info on Spidey than anyone should have?

Other Tasty Treats: Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows #9, Batman #27, Bitch Planet Triple Feature #2, Dept H #16, Descender #22, Green Arrow #27, Green Lanterns #27, Justice League # 25, Mighty Thor #21, Ms Marvel #20, Nightwing #25, Spider-Man 2099 #25, Star Wars: Poe Dameron #17, Super Sons #6, and Wildstorm #6

Darth Maul #5 - The final issue! Time to find out if Darth Maul is worth his salt and whether or not he can defeat a Jedi Padawan. If the Emperor finds out, he's in for a rude awakening!

MIDNIGHTER AND APOLLO TP - One through six in a convenient paperback collection. Midnighter is sent to the underworld to rescue Apollo.

I HATE FAIRYLAND #14 - Gert is plunged into a labyrinth on her neverending quest to get the fluff out of Fairyland. Will she meet a minotaur? You'll have to read it to find out. :)

KORGI SHORT TALES - FINALLY! A collection of the Korgi stories from Free Comic Book Day, including an extra! The art for this book is insanely cute, and features the feats of Sprout the Korgi through a whimsical fairytale adventure.

I Hate Fairland #14: Would you like loony toons if they added gratuitous violence? If so you'll love this!

Descender #22: I small android boy gets caught up in a plot that may or may not destroy the universe. Will he be the savior or the destroyer? read to find out!

July 19th & 20th: Parking Lot Info

Hey, comic fans!

A quick heads up that our parking lot is being sealed and repainted over the next two days (Wednesday July 19th and Thursday July 20th). On the map below, the area outlined in red will be blocked off tomorrow (Wednesday), and the area outlined in blue will be blocked off on Thursday. This work will be done by Friday, before we open.

There is still plenty of parking on the street, behind/beneath the building across the street, and a little further down the street near Central Market. As well as the sections not being painted/sealed on the two days.

This will not affect our normally scheduled events.

Eternal Empire #3: Tair and Rion discover that they share a fire power when in close proximity with one another. But will they be able to control it? And what will they do now that they've defied the Empire?

Midnighter - The Wildstorm Collection: From his hometown to the Middle East to the Carrier in outer space, Midnighter must protect the ones he loves while battling for his and their lives. When a firm of professional fascist superheroes overrun Midnighter's hometown, he battles himself in the guise of Assassin8 and steals his genetic code in the hopes of destroying the Authority, pitting friend versus friend and Midnighter versus Apollo! This title collects MIDNIGHTER #1-20 and MIDNIGHTER: ARMAGEDDON #1!

Real Science Adventures #4: Action, Adventure, Excitement-oh wait, I'm sorry, what? We've already been sued? I'm sorry, how much? Okaaay, well! You better order a lot of these and help us out.

Calexit #1: "What if a fascist, autocratic President took over the United States? And what if that President lost California, the sixth largest economy on Earth, by nearly 2-to-1...a margin of almost 3 1/2 million votes? What if the day after that President took power, the largest mass demonstration in history occurred, and the state with the largest turnout was California. And then, the following week, two of the largest international airports in the world, California's LAX and SFO, were blockaded by protesters? What if California refused to be ruled?"

This first issue follows Jamal, a courier just trying to survive and is tasked with delivering a VERY important package.

She-Hulk TP Vol 1: The first volume of Mariko Tamaki's Hulk series hits the shelves. Having barely survived her fight with Thanos, Jennifer Walters is trying to move on with her life. A new client seeks her help to prevent their eviction, but dark forces may be the real threat.

Wonder Woman #26: Shea Fortuna takes over writing Wonder Woman and Diana attends a wedding! What could possibly go wrong.....

Amazing Spider-Man #30: SECRET EMPIRE TIE-IN!  Otto Octavius is back, but he's not returning to his old ways...  No, this time, he's THE SUPERIOR OCTOPUS! And he's allied himself with Steve Rogers and Hydra!  What does Ock have planned for Peter and Parker Industries? Nothing good for Spider-Man, that's for sure!

Flash #26: "RUNNING SCARED" part two! Barry Allen and Iris West witness a chilling vision of the future courtesy of the Reverse-Flash, who reveals the couple's legendary romance will yield only darkness for the world of tomorrow. Now, Thawne forces The Flash to make a choice: spend forever alone or doom the future?

Planet of the Apes/ Green Lantern #6: The battle has infected Ape City. Cornelius' army of empowered mutants and apes lay waste to Grodd's Gorilla Army and Red Lanterns. This world's only hope lies with Hal Jordan and Sinestro, who must work together to save Cornelius from the corruption of the Universal Ring.

STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #9: Aphra's back with a brand-new plan that's guaranteed to pay! There's just one teensy problem...It involves surrounding herself by some of the galaxy's biggest baddies, and they don't like Aphra's tricks!

DRAGON AGE KNIGHT ERRANT #3: With Varric's help, Vaea sets out on a rescue mission for the Inquisition. After dodging societal niceties with the stuffy prince Sebastian and the even stuffier Seneschal Granger, Vaea catches up to her quarry . . . only to discover the mission will be far from that simple!

STAR WARS DARTH VADER #3: Vader sets his sights on a Jedi who's avoided Order 66…a Jedi Master who's long lived in seclusion…a Jedi more powerful than any Vader has faced before…

Misfit City #3: I am loving this series. As a fan of the Goonies, seeing this homage to the film with an all female cast of characters is everything I've wanted from a comic. The art is awesome and the comic perfectly captures the aesthetic and attitude of the Pacific Northwest. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Kim Reaper #4: This comic is adorable. With a cute romance between the two leads, fanfiction worthy hilarity, and self aware absurdity, this is one of my favorite Oni Press titles. Sarah Graley's writing and art are delightful. Graley also has tapped into a much needed story: a cute, funny, and kind of cheesy love story between two girls. Nothing is too serious, despite the comic being about Grim Reapers, and that's what it needs to be.

She-Hulk TP Vol 1 Deconstructed: I read anything Mariko Tamaki writes. I also love Jennifer Walters. Put them together and Marvel has created a book that I will gladly throw my money at. I'm incredibly excited to read this, as Tamaki unabashedly tackles heavy subjects in her original work, making her the perfect choice to write a superhero book about PTSD. I will definitely be picking this up when it comes out.

Black Magick #6: Rowan Black is back! I've been waiting over a year for this continuation and I couldn't be more thrilled!

Wonder Woman #25: Greg Rucka's run on Wonder Woman comes to a close and all THE LIES and THE TRUTH blend together with the events of YEAR ONE and GODWATCH.

Amazing Spider-Man #29: As revealed in ASM #25, Otto Octavius is back as THE SUPERIOR OCTOPUS!!!  And Ock has a mission to take down the company that he helped create: PARKER INDUSTRIES!!!  Does Spider-Man stand a chance?

Elfquest The Final Quest #20: Winter is coming, but love is still in the air! Among the Wolfriders, some celebrate new bonds while others welcome new life. Cutter holds a fateful council: it's now time for all elves to choose-travel with the Palace back to the Star Home, or remain on the World of Two Moons. Meanwhile, the invading human warriors press closer to the very center of Iceholt, the home of the elves' sacred Father Tree-and they bring the most fearsome weapon of all!
Flash #25: "RUNNING SCARED" part one! When Eobard Thawne murdered Barry Allen's mother, he killed a piece of The Flash's past. Now, Reverse-Flash is back to kill Barry's future! The Flash's biggest storyline yet begins as he is pushed to his limits and his secrets are laid bare in a chase through time itself! Don't miss the extra-sized anniversary issue!

Black Magic #6 - What the hell is the deal with Rowan Black, anyway? For that matter, just how many “real” witches are there? What is the bond that ties Rowan and Alex together? Is the series really coming back, or is this just the creative team messing with your heads? Yes, it’s true―the critically acclaimed series returns with a standalone story detailing how Rowan was awakened to her family’s legacy...and the enormous cost of being its inheritor.

Star Wars Droids Unplugged #1 - Must have for any droid collector. What adventures did the probe droids in The Phantom Menace get into when Darth Maul wasn't looking? Luke's got a mission for R2-D2! But can the astromech complete it in time? And all BB-8 wants is to help...two Resistance soldiers fall in love!

Star Wars Doctor Aphra #8 - "THE SCREAMING CITADEL" - PART 5! Jedi! Symbiotes! Rebels! Murderbots! Smugglers! Archaeologists! This one has it all! But can any survive the horrors of the Screaming Citadel?

Black Magick #6: Black Magick's long awaited return has finally come!!!!! After an unbearable cliff hanger, I've been dying to see what happens in the next story arc.

Steven Universe #5: This series has yet to disappoint me. With Melanie Gillman's awesome writing, the hilarious cast of Steven Universe characters, and the Where's Waldo of various popular Tumblr ships, this is currently one of my favorite children's series.

Supergirl Being Super #4: Mariko Tamaki is one of my favorite writers period. When I found out she would be writing a Supergirl book, I immediately signed up for it. Although I'll be sad to see her series end, I'm interested to see how it wraps up.

Final Order Cut-Off; Items of Note 6/26/17

Catalyst Prine: Superb #1: "Teenager Kayla Tate is forced to move back to her hometown Youngstown, Ohio, an "Event" designated Level 5 impact zone.  Compared to her new life, returning to Youngstown is a step backwards. She has a strained relationship with her childhood friend, Jonah Watkins, school is a nightmare, and everyone is talking about the mysterious superhero and Internet sensation, "Cosmosis", and his nighttime battles."

Catalyst Prime: Accell #1: This new Speedster is quickly learning the perils of his heroics and the secret group seeking out those like him; people who were effected by a mysterious meteor shower.

Dragon Age Knight Errant #2: This comic's first issue has me intrigued to see where this expansion of the video games takes our elven thief on her adventure through Kirkwall.

Bitch Planet - Triple Feature #1: This new anthology series set in the world of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Vincent de Landro's Bitch Planet brings us three stories of Non Compliance. Also, watch for the special Pride Month Variant for this issue.

Other awesome stuff this week: All New Wolverine #21, Black Panther: World of Wakanda TP, Dark Days: The Forge, Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian Special #1, Mother Panic Vol 1 TP, Ms Marvel #19, and Woman Wonder #24.

All New Wolverine #21: WOLVERINE RACES FOR A CURE! The strange alien disease is spreading quickly and scientists are no closer to a cure than they were when the spaceship crash-landed... With a population rapidly falling to the illness, Laura will have to turn to former allies and new friends to save the day...

Flash #24: RUNNING SCARED” prelude—guest-starring Hal Jordan! Green Lantern Hal Jordan has recruited Barry Allen for a dangerous mission that only The Flash can accomplish! Unfortunately, that mission is on a hostile space station deep in the cosmos, which means leaving Kid Flash alone to defend his and Barry’s loved ones from a deadly attack by their greatest enemy…

Grass Kings #4: Humbert and his police force face off against Robert’s militia in the Grass Kingdom.

DRAGON AGE KNIGHT ERRANT #2 - Lying to the Inquisition COULD be punishable by death, depending on your Inquisitor. Vaea is going to have to do some fast talking to hide her thievery, and as a person who is generally tired of the elf-driven narrative in Dragon Age, I rather like her and her story so far. Ser Aaron hasn't quite wormed his way into my heart yet, but its still early!

STAR WARS #32 - Screaming Citadel continues! Now Han Solo and Sana are mixed up in all of this strange Force Vampire nonsense, not to mention the fact that Sana can't stand the thought of being within eyesight of Aphra. This event continues to be a great, fun time.

KILL THE MINOTAUR #1 - Do you like greek mythology? I do! Nothing compels me more than a good minotaur tale. In Kill the Minotaur, Athens has lost the war to Crete, and they must now pay tribute each year by sending one of their own into the Labyrinth. How will the fearsome minotaur receive them?

Bitch Planet Triple Feature #1: Set in the Bitch Planet world but separate from the main story line, the first triple feature is three separate stories created by different teams. These stories showcase the struggles faced by women in the Bitch Planet world (but never in our world . . . right?) with dark irony and extremely cutting satire.

Misfit City #2: I actually haven't previously heard of this series, but upon reading up on it I've become quite intrigued! It's an adventure story that follows a group of teen girls who find a map which will supposedly lead them to pirate treasure. This is only the 2nd issue of this new series, so you won't have too much to catch up on if you decide to join the fun. Adventure stories about teenage girls isn't something we get to see too often (unfortunately), so I'm excited that this exists and look forward to learning more about it!

Staff Picks 6/7/17

Injection #13: What is the Cold House?

Eternal Empire #2: The Eternal Empress has waged war against the countries of Saia for over 100 years, and now her sights are set on the last country standing. Within the brutal Empire's workforce, a young man receives strange visions that give him the courage to escape his fate...or run straight toward it.

Nightwing #22: "BLOCKBUSTER" part three! Blockbuster's return to Blüdhaven has rocked the foundation of the criminal organizations and Nightwing stands in the middle of the chaos. Nightwing has to stop Blockbuster from achieving his goal, but does Blüdhaven's newest villain have a plan to remove him from the equation?

Aquaman #24: "CROWN OF ATLANTIS" finale! Hopelessly at odds with the people of Atlantis, Arthur is finally stripped of his crown. In his place, and to Aquaman's horror, the previously imprisoned Atlantean fundamentalist Corum Rath is installed as the new king! Every step of AQUAMAN REBIRTH has been building to this!

Rom #11: "Long Roads to Ruin," part 1. Rom's war against the Wraiths takes a dark turn as he's forced to fight alone against both the returning, far more dangerous, Axiom, and a dual threat from the ocean depths... Scylla and Charybdis!

Amazing Spider-man #28: OSBORN VS. SPIDER-MAN! NO HOLDS BARRED! The outcome of this battle will change both of these men. And that's nothing to say of Osborn's master plan that Spider-Man is powerless to save! ONLY SILVER SABLE AND MOCKINGBIRD STAND A CHANCE!

Darth Vader #1: "Year One" begins. When Anakin Skywalker fell, both to the pull of the dark side and to the blade of Obi-Wan Kenobi, he rose back up, more machine than man. Having lost everything that was once dear to him, the former chosen one must take his first steps into a darker Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith!

Eternal Empire #2: The Eternal Empress has waged war against the countries of Saia for over 100 years, and now her sights are set on the last country standing. Within the brutal Empire's workforce, a young man receives strange visions that give him the courage to escape his fate...or run straight toward it.

Hawkeye #7: This series is currently one of my favorite superhero titles. Kate's snark is hilarious and awesome. I'm really excited to see where Kelly Thompson takes her this issue, since more of Kate's past is supposed to be revealed.

Runaways Tp 4 - True Believers: This is one of my favorite titles of all time. I'm glad that Marvel is creating another series and is reprinting more of the older trades. True Believers was a great story arc for the characters and is a great place to start for readers new to the Runaways.

Bitch Planet TP 2 - President Bitch: At long last, the second volume of Kelly Sue Deconnick's acclaimed series hits shelves! I can't wait to final read this arc in one sitting!

Hawkeye TP Vol 1 - Kate Bishop: Kate's taken charge as the Hawkeye for the best coast! She starts her own private eye biz and her first case: missing persons! Simple enough until her client vanishes too!

Wonder Woman Annual #1: Artist Nicola Scott returns to Wonder Woman to tell us about Diana's first adventure alongside Superman and Batman! Also: more stories from her journey as a hero!

Young Avengers - Children's Crusade TP: Wiccan's powers edge toward chaos and the Young Avengers must find out more about his origins. Enter: the Scarlett Witch, back from the dead?

More awesome stuff this week: Gamora #5, Motor Girl #6, Romulus #4, Sex Criminals #19, Star Wars: Guardians of the Whills, and Steven Universe #4.

Flash #23: "Running Scared,” prelude! Barry Allen is at a crossroads. He’s lied to the woman he loves about his life as The Flash, and a rift is growing between him and his heroic young partner. Now, his greatest enemy has threatened to strike down everyone close to him! It’s time to make a tough choice that will launch The Flash into his most incredible mission yet: a siege on the 25th century stronghold of Eobard Thawne!

Kill or be Killed #9: Time is running out, and the demon wont wait for the police to stop hunting him. Trapped between his curse and his own survival, Dylan takes to the streets.

Spider Gwen #20: WHO IS THE EARTH 65 WOLVERINE???

STAR WARS ROGUE ONE YOUNG READERS NOVEL - GUARDIANS OF WHILLS: Rucka. Star Wars. What more needs to be said? Guardians of the Whills explores the otherwise largely unexplored storylines of Chirrut and Baze from Rogue One. In spite of the fact that its a novel aimed at younger readers (much like the Before the Awakening novels), it has a good chunk of lore that you won't want to miss.

STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #7: More Screaming Citadel content! I have to say, I'm really loving the Luke and Aphra banter, and it looks like Han Solo is about to join the party. I'm eating this event up!

PAKLIS #1: PAKLIS is a three-story anthology series with influence range from Kafka to Miyazaki. Its purpose is to delve into dark storylines that ask existential questions of the reader. This one has potential to be "don't read alone at night in a dark room" sort of book.

MY LESBIAN EXPERIENCE WITH LONELINESS: This book promises to be filled with some Real Talk™ alongside a bit of too-true humor about a girl growing up in a close-minded environment while struggling to find out who she is. Its something I can find myself relating to, and its also partly written as an autobiography!

BITCH PLANET TP VOL 02 - PRESIDENT BITCH: Kelly Sue Deconnick's series is, in short, amazing. With the second story arc finally collected in the second volume, I am incredibly excited to have one of the greatest modern feminist comics on my shelf. This is one of the few series where I collect it in both singles and trades. Overall, I'm pumped for volume two.

HAWKEYE TP VOL 01 - KATE BISHOP: Kate Bishop is one of my favorite characters in comics overall. To finally have her in her own book is incredible, as she can move forward in a story where she isn't a side character or on a team. With one of Marvel's best new private eyes, this series is filled with classic Kate Bishop snark, relatable humor, and an overall great time. Written by Kelly Thompson, this one of my favorite books put out by Marvel.

MY LESBIAN EXPERIENCE WITH LONELINESS: This autobiographical manga has recently been hailed by critics and fans alike as a great story about what it is like to be a gay woman. As a queer young woman, I'm always looking for stories about LGBTQ folks who love outside the U.S., so a story about a lesbian in Japan is exactly what I have been looking for. I can't wait to read it!

WONDER WOMAN ANNUAL #1: The Wonder Woman annual contains four original stories created by amazing teams. As an avid Diana fan, I'm incredibly excited to read these team's take on the iconic character right before I see the movie on Friday.

Staff Picks 5/24/17

Wonder Woman #23:  I'm super sad that Greg Rucka will be leaving this title after #25, but the ride in the meantime is the best in comics! Diana face THE TRUTH of Aries and we reach the end of this arc.

Mass Effect Discovery #1: Tiran Kandros goes undercover to discover the truth of the Andromeda Initiative and their true goals.

The Old Guard #4: I'm so sad this arc is almost over and that I'll have to wait until NEXT YEAR for more. This comic covers the rift of new and old beautifully! I can't wait to get it in trade as well!

Batgirl #11:  "Son of Penguin", finale. Batgirl races to free Burnside from Ethan's plot... but has Burnside already changed too much to be saved? Even if she manages to save the day, will Barbara ever be able to truly go home again?

Mass Effect: Discovery #1: If you can't get enough Mass Effect Andromeda then you can't miss this book! This book gives us some insight into Kandros (everyone's favorite space dad) and why he is a pivotal figure in the Andromeda franchise.

Black Hammer #9: In this issue we get Talky Walky's back story. We also get to explore his relationship with Col. Weird in the past as well as after the events of the last issue. Lenore has created a world of characters that the reader can identify and empathize with.

SAMARITAN VERITAS #1 - A woman with a vendetta decides she's going to take down the largest military contractor in the world. How does one accomplish such a feat? Giving away useful information that can hurt them. And how do you get that info? Hacking (probably).

MASS EFFECT DISCOVERY #1 - A Turian focused story arc in the new galaxy of Andromeda. For all the efforts sentient life made to leave their old lives behind, corruption runs rampant in the Andromeda Initiative.

OLD GUARD #4 - A lot of shooting, some explosions, and a heartfelt declaration of love. As it turns out, the coined term 'Immortals' might not fit the mold as well as you think. If you're a fan of mixing past history into modern day storylines, this issue won't disappoint.

Star Lord Annual #1: I'm super excited for the Star Lord Annual, as it seems to be in the style of the classic Western films of the 1950s and 1960s. With Peter crashing in a small town and fighting off their mean, old varmit, it sounds just like a Lone Ranger episode, but in space!

Night Owl Society #2: When I first picked up this book I was fairly skeptical, but the miniseries reminds me of 4 Kids Walk into A Bank, which is a fantastic book. With the same grittiness of 4 Kids Walk into A Bank and awesome character dynamics, this is a book that I'm excited to see its resolution in issue three.

Staff Picks 5/17/17

What are you excited to read this new comic book day?

American Gods #3: Shadow now works for Mr. Wednesday, but what all does that entail?

Nick Fury #2: The first issue (with such amazing art by ACO) was like a really great opening sequence to a Bond film. I can't wait to read more!

Supergirl TP 1: I love this book! Steve Orlando does a fantastic job writing a story that presents Kara's comic origins for new fans and quickly moves into a new story for all fans to enjoy!

Wild Storm #4: This series has been so fantastic. Warren Ellis back playing in the Wildstorm sandbox has been a joy!

Kim Reaper #2: Oni Press' new book is an amazing addition to its line of LGBTQ+ content. In this next issue, Kim and Becka have to deal with an uncooperative customer, trying to guide his cat into the afterlife. Filled with relatable girl crush scenarios, adorable art, and Lumberjanes like humor, this is definitely one of the books I'll be sticking with.

Generation X #1: Of all the new X-Men titles, this is the one I am most interested in. Generation X appears to return its focus on the students in the X-Men titles, with Jubilee leading her own team. Seeing Jubilee in a leadership role will be especially interesting, as we've often seen her as just another member on one of the various X-Men teams. Also, I am up for any X-Men book with Quentin Quire.
